Simple map of Montjuïc cable car stations.

The smoothest way to the cable car is via the Funicular de Montjuïc from Paral·lel (Metro L2/L3), which drops you right at the lower station area.

Wayfinding

Best routes

  1. Paral·lel → Funicular → Parc de Montjuïc station (fastest, integrated fare).
  2. Bus 55/150 → Walk 5–10 minutes (good if you're already near Espanya).
  3. Taxi from Gothic Quarter → 10–15 minutes, direct to the lower station.
  4. Cruise visitors → Taxi or PortBus to Paral·lel, then funicular.

Tip: The port cable car (across the harbor) is a different system; don’t mix them up if your goal is Montjuïc Castle.

Walking gradients

  • From Poble Sec: Short but steep segments through green slopes.
  • From Plaça d'Espanya: Gradual ascent via the MNAC steps and gardens.
  • From the Olympic Ring: Mostly flat to Mirador, then up by cable car.

Time estimates

Origin Route Time
La Rambla Metro L3 → Paral·lel → Funicular 20–25 min
Sants L3 → Paral·lel → Funicular 25–30 min
Espanya Bus 150 or walk + cable car 25–40 min
Cruise Port Taxi to Paral·lel or direct to station 15–25 min

Note: Elevators and escalators are common but not universal — allow a buffer.

Last-mile tips

  • Follow signs for "Telefèric de Montjuïc" at funicular exit.
  • If queues are long at Parc, walk to Mirador and board there on quiet days.
  • Keep your transit card handy for quick connections.
